Rachel Levitin is a Chicago born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist currently based in Washington, D.C. Having over a fifteen years of live performance experience under her belt as well as an unwavering passion for storytelling through song, Levitin continues to create an intimate show — no matter the stage — across the country.

From New York City to the District of Columbia, from Chicago to Nashville and beyond, Levitin’s taken her talents to the likes of America’s biggest music cities and has been welcomed with open arms. It’s her ability to grab an audience by the ears and convince them to listen whole-hardheartedly to her performance that enables Levitin to enchant a crowd. It’s also what keeps listeners coming back for more.

Levitin’s style ranges from folk-influenced rock songs to country storytelling with a dash of blue notes thrown in for good measure. Fans of American rock, soul, and jazz will find hints of their favorite genre’s history combined with Levitin’s emotional performance to make for quite the compelling live show. Her performance style has been compared to the likes of some of rock’s timeless acts including Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks as well as country’s Loretta Lynn and blues’ Bonnie Raitt.

Levitin spent her teenage years studying all things music including voice leading, chromatic theory, music history, and performance. During that time, she studied under the guidance of the same Jazz instructors as Grammy Award winner Norah Jones at the Interlochen Arts Camp and the same songwriting instructors as Grammy Award winner John Mayer at the Berklee College of Music.

She’s also shared the stage with Funk-Rock-Jazz fusion band Big Sam’s Funky Nation and independent rock album of the year nominees Filligar, in addition to modern Jazz artists Conrad Herwig and Bob Mintzer thanks to her time at the world-renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Levitin is hard at work in the studio with Innovation Station Music Owner/Producer Dave Mallen in Arlington, Va. and they are currently in-production on her first full band album due out no later than 2015. Her hope is that a cross-country tour will shortly follow.
